Algeria hostage crisis: 'scores escape'

A large number of workers in a group being held hostage by Islamist terrorists at a gas facility in Algiera have reportedly escaped while BP has confirmed some of its staff are amongst those detained.

The development comes as joint operator of the In Amenas field BP said it had confirmed the status of all its staff working at the facility but refused to provide any details on the number or make-up of its staff there.
