BP: 'small number unaccounted for'

BP says "a small number" of its employees at the In Amenas gas facility in Algeria remain unaccounted for as local forces continue an offensive against armed terrorists.

Precise information on how many people are safe, unaccounted for, injured or dead following a hostage drama and apparent botched rescue mission at the gas field remains elusive, however.

BP is joint operator of the field in central east Algeria along with Norway's Statoil and state oil company Sonatrach.
