In Amenas death toll rises

The death toll from from the gas plant which was the scene of a deadly hostage crisis in Algeria last week has reportedly risen to 48.

Reuters cited an unnamed security source as saying Algerian troops searching the In Amenas natural gas plant had found the bodies of 25 more hostages inside, more than doubling figures in previous reports which had claimed 23 hostages had lost their lives.

The security source claimed on Sunday that figure could still rise as Algerian troops continue to search through the site.
