Algerian PM: '37 foreigners killed'

Thirty seven foreigner oil workers were killed in the attack and hostage crisis at an Algerian gas facility last week, the country's prime minister has said, according to a report.

One Canadian national was also amongst the group of heavily-armed militants which stormed the In Amenas gas facility on Wednesday morning, the BBC cited Abdelmalek Sellal as saying in a statement on Monday.

Reports indicate that at least 48 hostages died as a result of the crisis which was brought to a bloody end on Saturday after Algerian special forces stormed militant-held sections of the facility. A total of 29 militants are also said to have died.
