Atwood secures jack-up deal

PPL's proprietary Pacific Class 400 jack-up design

Houston-based drilling contractor Atwood Oceanics has landed a two-year contract with Mubdala Petroleum for its newbuild jack-up Atwood Orca.

The rig, now set for delivery from Singapore’s PPL Shipyard a month earlier than scheduled in May, will be mobilised for work off Thailand under the deal, which will generate revenue for Atwood of $116 million to bring its total backlog to around $2.6 billion.

The Pacific Class 400 jack-up is rated for a water depth of 400 feet with accommodation for 150 personnel.
