Stoltenberg, Cameron to meet to talk terrorism

Norway's prime minister Jens Stoltenberg said he will meet with UK leader David Cameron to discuss closer ties aimed at combating international terrorism in the wake of the deadly siege of a gas plant in Algeria co-operated by Statoil and BP.

Speaking to the Norwegian parliament, Stoltenberg said he planned to meet with Cameron "to discuss both the current crisis and how Norway and the UK can co-operate on a more comprehensive effort against international terrorism".

His comments followed the end of a bloody showdown between Islamic militants and Algerian forces that left scores of people dead, including 37 foreign hostages. Five more foreigners remained unaccounted for.

Among those dead were five Statoil employees and four BP workers.
