Newbuild set to join Subsea 7 fleet

In the water: Seven Viking

A newbuild maintenance and light construction vessel is set to start work for Subsea 7 on a long-term contract after being delivered from Norway’s Ulstein yard.

The Seven Viking, which is designed for work in harsh environments including Arctic waters, has been fixed on an eight-year contract with the UK-based contractor that is worth more than Nkr1 billion ($180 million).

Eidesvik Seven, a 50:50 joint venture between Eidesvik Offshore and Subsea 7, has now taken delivery of the vessel that was built at the Norwegian west coast yard at a reported cost of Nkr800 million.
