The
6610/10-1
well
was
drilled
to
a
total
depth
of
2988
metres
with
the
aim
of
proving
petroleum
in
Lower
Jurassic
reservoir
rocks,
known
as
the
Bat
group,
in
the
Helgeland
basin.
However
the
Norwegian
Petroleum
Directorate
announced
on
Monday
that
while
the
wildcat
encountered
reservoir
rocks
in
the
Bat
group
with
good
reservoir
quality,
the
well
was
dry.
It
was
the
first
well
to
be
drilled
on
Statoil's
wholly-owned
production
licence
386,
which
lies
about
90
kilometres
north-east
of
the
producing
Norne
field.
