Safety man: Bob Fryar to replace Mark Bly in BP post

BP’s production boss Bob Fryar is taking the reins at the UK supermajor’s safety department as the present incumbent prepares to step aside.

Fryar, current executive vice president for production, will take over the new role on 15 February from Mark Bly who is retiring in the summer, BP said.

A 25-year oil industry veteran, Fryar’s new position as executive vice president of safety & operational risk will see him report directly to chief executive Bob Dudley.

Dudley said of the incoming safety manager: “Bob’s deep technical expertise, profound knowledge of our operations and commitment to our values will serve him well in his new role on my executive team.”
