Britannia output restarted

Chevron has reportedly restarted production at the Britannia gas field in the UK North Sea after an unplanned shutdown.

"Britannia facilities resumed full production on Sunday 27 January 2013," a spokeswoman for Chevron told Reuters.

The platform had been shut down as a precaution on 16 January, the operator said previously, without giving a specific reason.

Chevron and ConocoPhillips jointly operate the facility, which usually produces between 6.5 million and 6.8 million cubic metres per day of gas.

The platform is located around 210 kilometres north-east of Aberdeen.
