Rosneft will join Venezuela offshore gas project

Mariscal Sucre: Rosneft to contribute to development efforts

Russian oil company Rosneft will join Venezuela's state oil company, PDVSA, in developing an offshore natural gas project, Venezuela's oil minister said on Tuesday.

Under a preliminary agreement, Rosneft will be granted development rights to Venezuela's Rio Caribe and Mejillones fields, which are part of the long-delayed 14.7 trillion cubic feet Mariscal Sucre project of the South American country's eastern coast, Reuters reported.

Rosneft will also participate in the offshore fields La Tortuga and La Blanquilla fields, Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez said at a press conference according to the news wire.
