Bowleven 'hits pay' with IM-5 off Cameroon

Extra pay: Bowleven says Cameroon appraisal well has found hydrocarbons

Bowleven has said logging while drilling indicates it may have discovered additional pay in the Intra Isongo with an appraisal well on its Etinde concession off Cameroon.

The Africa-focused, AIM-listed explorer said that the IM-5 probe on Block MLHP-7 intersected a gross reservoir interval of around 80 metres, in line with seismic interpretation.

Chief executive Kevin Harte said that “the potentially significant hydrocarbon discovery in the Intra Isongo demonstrates the substantial upside that we believe exists on Etinde”.

Preliminary analysis points to estimated net pay of between 52 and 56 metres with good reservoir quality, according to Bowleven, while stressing further evaluation is needed to determine hydrocarbon content and type.
