Kidnapping: three contractors have been kidnapped in Colombia

Canada’s Gran Tierra Energy has confirmed the kidnappings of three contractors in Colombia.

“Gran Tierra Energy confirms that three employees of contractors providing services to Gran Tierra Energy have been illegally detained by unknown individuals in the Putumayo basin, Colombia,” the company said in a statement.

“No employees of Gran Tierra Energy were involved in the incident.”

Gran Tierra did not provide details on the contractors or the company they worked for, saying only that the relevant authorities had been advised and were “managing the situation”.
