Peattie takes Fairfield top job

Fairfield Energy has prised BP's Russia chief away from the UK supermajor to become its new chief executive.

David Peattie will take up the top job at the UK-focused junior from 1 March as he steps aside from BP after 34 years with the oil giant.

BP revealed on Thursday that Peattie was leaving the company's top post in Russia from the end of February, to be replaced by current head of Iraq operations, Michael Townshend.

Peattie will remain on the board of TNK-BP, the UK supermajor's Russian joint venture, until the deal to sell its 50% stake to Rosneft is finally done and dusted.
