Talks: Farc rebels reportedly release hostages

Rebels in Colombia have reportedly released three oil contractors kidnapped on Wednesday but killed four soldiers in the south as tensions escalate in the South American nation.

The Farc guerrillas released the workers, who were contracted as engineers by Canada's Gran Tierra Energy, on Thursday according to military sources cited by Reuters.

The contractors were working in southern Colombia when they were taken captive on Wednesday.

Gran Tierra did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Farc has been stepping up its activity in Colombia despite ongoing peace talks with the Colombian government in Havana, Cuba, that began in November.
