Roc spins bit in Balai Cluster

Exploring Malaysian waters: Roc Oil has spudded the Spaoh-2 well within the Balai Cluster risk service contract off Malaysia

Roc Oil has started drilling a third well in its pre-development phase appraisal drilling programme on the Balai Cluster off East Malaysia.

The Australia-listed company reported on Friday morning that the Spaoh-2 well, which spudded on Thursday night, was drilling ahead at a measured depth about 326 metres.

The well, which is located in the Spaoh field within the Balai cluster risk service contract, has a planned target total depth of about 2710 metres subsea.

The Balai Cluster RSC comprises four fields – Balai, Bentara, West Acis and Spaoh.

It is operated by BC Petroleum, which is a joint venture company 48%-owned by Roc, in partnership with Dialog Group (32%) and Malaysia’s state-owned player Petronas (20%).
