FMC nets Thunder Horse deal

FMC Technologies has scooped a subsea contract from BP for one of the UK supermajor's projects in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The services stalwart has been contracted to manufacture and supply subsea equipment to support water injection in the Thunder Horse field, it said on Monday.

As of December, BP was still considering a planned southern expansion of the producing field with two new drill centres and a second phase water injection project.

The field is based in the Mississippi Canyon area of the Gulf, 240 kilometres southeast of New Orleans and in 1920 metres of water.
