Awilco Drilling has secured an 18-month contract extension worth $212 million from US independent Hess for use of its semi-submersible rig WilHunter off the UK.
The
initial
firm
period
for
the
unit
of
400
days
has
now
been
extended
to
950
days,
with
options
for
up
to
an
additional
275
days,
under
the
letter
of
intent
with
the
contract
due
to
start
in
April.
The
rig
is
being
used
by
Hess
over
the
next
three
years
for
its
well
abandonment
programme
in
the
UK
central
North
Sea.
