Deep-water duo: Total plans seismic surveys on new licence pair

Total has confirmed it has been awarded two deep-water blocks in Cyprus’ second licensing round.

The production sharing contracts are for offshore blocks 10 and 11, which are 2572 square kilometres and 2958 square kilometres in area respectively.

Paris-headquartered Total's exploration boss in the region Arnaud Breuillac said that two different plays were in the French explorer’s sights at the licence pair.

“We will be conducting an extensive seismic programme, shooting 3D seismic on block 11 and 2D seismic on block 10,” he added.

The two blocks lie off the southwest of the Mediterranean island in water depths from 1000 metres to 2500 metres deep.
