Race against clock for Troll A repair

Bergen Group Rosenberg has been called upon by Statoil to carry out the emergency replacement of a broken compressor motor on the Troll A platform that has hit gas production from the field off Norway.

The Norwegian yard group said the contract would involve dismantling the existing motor and installing a new one on the platform, and would involve "complex fabrication, testing and installation activities over a very short period of time".

No value was disclosed for the deal, although Bergen Rosenberg chief executive Kristin Faerovik told Norwegian newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad it was worth “tens of millions of kroner”.
