Canning basin: Key has observed more oil and gas shows in the Cyrene-1 well

Australia’s Key Petroleum has hit more oil shows in the Cyrene-1 well on EP 438, in Western Australia’s onshore Canning basin.

Key said oil and gas shows had been observed during the last cutting of Goldwyer core, adding total gas averaged 10.1 units over the cored interval and had increased to 14.5 units at 985 metres.

Earlier this week, Key announced that it had encountered oil and gas shows in the Cyrene-1 well over a 43 metre interval in the lower Grant and Goldwyer formations.

The company has previously estimated the Cyrene structure, which consists of a four-way dip closed anticline, to hold potential recoverable oil of up to 5 million barrels.
