Ablaze: Explosion engulfs Marib pipeline in flames

Attackers have blown up Yemen's main oil export pipeline on Friday, halting the flow of crude, in the latest in a series of attacks.

In the attack, the pipeline linking the al-Hawi Wadi Abida production field in central Marib province to the Red Sea was hit by an explosion on Friday morning.

An official at operator Safer Exploration & Production blamed the incident on “subversive elements”, with a witness reporting that "the pipeline burst into flames immediately after the explosion," according to Reuters.

The blast halted crude flows to the Ras Isa floating export terminal pending repairs, the official added.
