Agility lands COSL rig design job

Norway’s Agility Group has landed a second deal with China Oilfield Services Ltd (COSL) to design a semi-submersible drilling rig tailored for work in the South China Sea.

The so-called COSL5000FT newbuild will be based on Agility’s A5000 design and will be a further progression from its existing GG5000-design rig being built for COSL Drilling Europe at the CIMC Raffles yard in China.

The latest unit will have a variable deckload capacity of 5000 tonnes with accommodation for 160 personnel and will be capable of drilling in a water depth of up to 1500 metres, with a maximum drilling depth of up to 9000 metres.
