Success in Oman: Tethys hits oil in four separate formations during exploration drilling in Block 4

Swedish independent Tethys Oil said oil has been found in four separate formations in an exploration well onshore Oman.

The company said on Tuesday that the B4EW4 well, which was spudded in November, had encountered strong oil shows in the Lower Al Bashir, Buah, Khufai and Masirah Bay formations during drilling.

Wireline logging operations are now complete and a testing programme has started at the well, according to Tethys.

The company said the programme would evaluate the Khufai and Buah reservoirs with results anticipated within three weeks.

The B4EW4 well is located about 20 kilometres of the Saiwan East oilfield in Block 4.
