Kosmos awaits Ghana development nod

Ghana: Kosmos Energy and partner Tullow Oil await approval of a plan of development for the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme offshore discoveries, submitted in November

US explorer Kosmos Energy is moving ahead with its 2013 work programme in Ghana, with drilling of the Sapele prospect set to be completed this quarter and a final development concept for its Deepwater Tano Block awaiting approval.

UK-listed partner Tullow Oil said on Tuesday the Sapele-1 exploration well, which was spud in December, was currently drilling ahead at about 3900 metres.

According to the company, the well encountered a high-quality water-bearing reservoir at the primary target and drilling was continuing to additional Turonian-aged reservoirs.

The well is expected to reach its total depth of about 4100 metres during this quarter, Tullow quoted Kosmos as saying in a statement.
