Halliburton in $200m Norway scoop

Norway contract: Halliburton to provide technology worth over $200 million

Statoil has picked Halliburton for a three-year contract worth over $200 million to provide systems for Norwegian offshore fields, the service contractor said Tuesday.

Halliburton will provide “multilateral” technology for two mature fields. The systems provide flow control in wells with multiple laterals.

“Together with other Improved Oil Recovery projects Halliburton’s MLT technology has contributed to Statoil's increased oil production from the Troll field,” the company said in a statement.

“The current drilling plan for these fields is estimated to include 119 new junction installations or about 75% of the planned multilaterals offshore Norway.”

The contract also includes a pair of two-year options.
