Indonesia: Salamander Energy's prospects in the Bontang and South East Sangatta production sharing contracts

Asia-focused independent Salamander Energy said Wednesday it has spudded an exploration well in the South East Sangatta production sharing contract off East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The North Kendang-1 well is being drilled by the semi-submersible Ocean General to a depth of about 2600 metres subsea.

Located in 465 metres of water, the well is targeting oil and gas pay in a series of stacked Pliocene-Upper Miocene sandstone reservoirs.

According to Salamander, North Kendang-1 is estimated to hold about 91 million barrels of oil and 770 billion cubic feet of gas.
