Tripura target: India's Jubilant Energy spuds North Atharamura probe

Independent Jubilant Energy has spudded a second, deeper exploration well on its Tripura block onshore northeast India.

The North Atharamura-1 wildcat in the Atharamura anticline has a target depth of 4060 metres.

The first deeper probe on the block, the well aims to explore the hydrocarbon potential of Middle Bhuban and Lower Bhuban sands and Lower Bhuban, Renji and Jenam sands, Jubilant Energy said.

Drilling got underway on Tuesday and is expected to take around three to four months.

The first exploration probe on Tripura lead to 2009's Kathalchari gas find, for which the explorer submitted a declaration of commerciality in December.
