Kleven wins seismic newbuild

Newbuild: the ice-classed ST 324XT seismic vessel

Norway’s Kleven yard has won a Nkr700 million ($127.7 million) order from GC Rieber Shipping for an advanced ice-classed seismic vessel capable of working in Arctic waters, with an option for a second unit.

The harsh-environment vessel, based on the ST 324XT design from Skipsteknisk and with an ICE IA classification, is scheduled for delivery from Kleven’s Myklebust yard in March 2015.

The contract, still subject to board approval, increases Kleven’s order book to a total of 15 vessels worth a total of around Nkr8.1 billion.
