Comet cheers Mahalo step-out

Australian coalbed methane (CBM) explorer Comet Ridge said its first step-out core hole on the Mahalo Block in central Queensland’s Bowen basin has hit 7.2 metres of net coal.

The Scrubber Gully-2 well, located about 5.2 kilometres south-east of the recently-drilled Mira field pilot production wells in ATP 337P, was spudded in January and drilled to a total depth of 523 metres.

Comet said the drilling rig was now being mobilised to the next step-out well, Turkey’s Nest-1. Like Scrubber Gully-2, this well will be cored through the reservoir section with the aim of extending the area available for booking reserves at Mahalo.
