Shell hands Technip subsea contract

Technip: the French company has landed a subsea contract covering Shell's D12 and Laila developments off Malaysia

Paris-based Technip has been awarded a subsea contract by Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell for the Laila and D12 fields, off Malaysia.

The engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning contract is for two gas-export lines to be installed at the fields.

The scope of the work includes the design, fabrication and installation of a five-kilometre flexible pipe and a 10-kilometre flexible pipe with respective diameters of seven and 12.8 inches.

The contract also covers diver installation of riser clamps at both jacket platforms, pre-commissioning of the flowlines and project management.
