EQT well: Contractor killed in explosion

EQT Corporation has confirmed that a contractor was killed late last week at a producing wellsite in Flemington, West Virginia.

The worker was at the site “to check fluid levels in water storage tanks when the incident occured”, EQT said.

“The safety and security of EQT employees and contractors is a core value and it’s a sad day when we lose anyone within our community,” the company added.

An investigation into the cause is ongoing and the appropriate authorities have been notified.

The employee was identified by the local State Journal newspaper as Brian Hopkins who worked for Central Environmental Services of Washington, WV.
