Florim find: Petrobras uncovers oil off Rio de Janeiro state

Brazilian oil giant Petrobras has said it has struck 'good quality oil' with its Felim probe in the Santos Basin pre-salt.

The discovery was made in an open acreage area where the company has rights to produce up to 5 billion barrels.

Informally known as Florim, well 1-BRSA-1116-RJS (1-RJS-704) lies 206 kilometres off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state.

It has so far been drilled to a depth of 5498 metres in water depths of 2009 metres.

The Rio-based major said that the probe had confirmed the presence of 29-degrees API oil in “carbonate reservoirs of excellent quality just below the salt layer”.
