The Dolphin gas pipeline that runs from Qatar to the United Arab Emirates is set for its commercial launch in the first week of June, its operator said today.

"We are on target for gas delivery. We expect (gas) to be delivered in the first week of June," Dolphin Energy chief executive Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh told Reuters in Singapore.

The $3.5 billion pipeline is the first cross-border gas line in the Gulf Arab region.

Abu Dhabi government-run Mubadala Development Company owns 51% of Dolphin Energy while France's Total and Occidental Petroleum each have a 24.5% stake.

Ahmed, who is also chairman of developer Adlar Properties, was in Singapore for a property conference, reuters said.
