GC Rieber Shipping saw net profits soar on record operating earnings last year as it expands its fleet in line with increasing demand for advanced subsea and seismic vessels.

The Oslo-listed offshore vessel owner notched up fourth-quarter net profit of Nkr90.7 million ($16.1 million), compared with Nkr15.8 million a year earlier, as earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation leaped 55% to a new high of Nkr113.7 million on 18% higher operating income of Nkr215.6 million.

It recorded a full-year net profit of Nkr199.2 million, a hike of 79% from 2011, as EBITDA increased to Nkr376.7 million from Nkr267 million due to a 25% surge in revenue to Nkr781.2 million.
