Kea resumes Mauku drilling

Taranaki: Kea has resumed drilling on the Mauku prospect

New Zealand-focused company Kea Petroleum has resumed drilling on the Mauku prospect in New Zealand’s Taranaki basin.

Mauku-1 was originally spudded in PEP 381204 last month using the drilling rig Drillforce rig-6 which drilled the surface hole to a depth of 507 metres before running surface casing and suspending the well.

On Tuesday Kea said the Drilling Odinn rig had now arrived on site and had re-entered the well and was preparing to drill ahead.

Mauku-1 will be drilled to a total depth of 3400 metres and is expected to be completed in April.
