The
latest
figure
issued
by
the
Norwegian
Petroleum
Directorate
(NPD)
in
its
annual
resource
assessment
represents
an
increase
of
2.8
billion
boe,
or
nearly
3.3%,
in
recoverable
volumes
compared
with
2011.
This
is
mainly
due
to
an
increase
in
reserves
at
existing
fields,
higher
resource
estimates
for
discoveries,additional
volumes
from
new
finds
and
the
hike
in
undiscovered
resources,
according
to
the
NPD.
The
latest
resource
statistics
do
not
include
recently
issued
estimates
for
new
areas
in
the
south-east
Barents
Sea
and
off
Jan
Mayen
island,
where
the
government
intends
to
