Petrobras response: Encountered subsea tree leak in Marlim field

Petrobras said it has controlled a small oil spill off Brazil in the Campos basin’s Marlim field following a leak from a subsea tree.

The spill at the MRL-131 was halted Sunday morning after intervention from specialised vessels including remotely-operated vehicles, and the SS-74 platform is on site to finish the job.

A surface slick was reduced to three litres, Petrobras said.

According to a Dow Jones report, a 13-litre slick was identified on Thursday, with a 95-litre area discovered Friday, Petrobras said.

Authorities including IBAMA, ANP and others have been identified, Petrobras said.
