Shell plans North American LNG units

Shell has taken a final investment decision on a pair of small-scale liquefaction projects in North America which will deliver LNG to parts of the US and Canada.

The Anglo-Dutch supermajor, a large player in the LNG sphere, plans for the two units to form the basis for a pair of LNG transport corridors in the region.

In the Gulf Coast corridor, Shell is looking at installing a 0.25 million tonnes per annum liquefaction unit at its chemicals facility in Geismar, Louisiana. It is envisaged supplying LNG along the Mississippi River, the Intra-State Coastal Waterway, offshore Gulf of Mexico and onshore at oil & gas exploration sites in Texas and Louisiana.
