TGS sights on Barents seismic

Streaming: for seismic in Barents

Oslo-listed seismic contractor TGS is set to kick off shortly a pair of 3D multi-client surveys covering frontier areas of the Barents Sea, including the virgin Hoop area in the far north of Norway.

The first shoot will span a 3500 square-kilometre area on the Finnmark Platform and is due to start later this month using eight-streamer vessel Geo Barents.

The second survey will cover 8600 square kilometres in the area from Hoop to Fingerdjupet and will be carried out by 12-streamer vessel Oceanic Challenger early in the second quarter.

TGS said the seismic campaigns, both funded by the industry, will cover areas of complex geology with the aim of meeting specific data requirements for clients.

Data from both surveys is due to be available by the third quarter.
