Linde Engineering lands $350m Emden contract

Terminal plans: Gassco replacing Norsea Gas Terminal with new facility

Norway’s Gassco has hired German contractor Linde Engineering to provide engineering, procurement and construction of a new gas receiving facility at Emden in a deal worth Nkr 2 billion ($350.8 million).

The German outfit landed the two-and-a-half year contract after an international tendering process, Gassco said.

The terminal is due to begin construction in the Autumn and is schedule for start up in December 2015.

It is part of the Gassco Emden Project (GEP) to replace the Norsea Gas Terminal, which has been operating since 1977 and which provides Germany with the bulk of its gas.

Norsea Gas Terminal operator Gassco awarded the EPC contract on behalf of Gassled, an 11-member joint venture that helms virtually all of Norway’s gas transportation network.
