'Liberation day' for Dagny

Statoil’s Dagny field has been renamed after renowned Norwegian female rights activist Gina Krog to coincide with international women’s day.

Krog played a key role in the campaign to secure voting rights for women in 1913, with the suffrage centenary being celebrated this year, and also worked for a new marriage law and equal economic and political rights for women in Norway.

She founded four domestic organisations between 1884 and 1904 to promote women’s rights and also participated in the wider international movement for women at the turn of the last century.
