Kulczyk seeks Olgovskoye boost

Testing potential: Bid to fire up gas output at Olgovskoye

Explorers Kulczyk Oil Ventures and Cub Energy have sunk a new appraisal well at Olgovskoye in a drive to further increase gas output at the northeast Ukraine field.

The Olgovskoye-15 is being drilled as a directional well to a planned total measured depth of 3200 metres with the KUB-Gas owned K-200 drilling rig over the next 70 days.

It aims to evaluate the potential of the Bashkirian R30c and Serpukhovian S5 reservoir sands to further develop the gas production capability of the Olgovskoye field, which produced an average of 11.42 million cubic feet per day in February.

The field near the city of Lugansk is operated by Ukrainian private KUB-Gas, of which Poland’s Kulczyk Oil Ventures owns 70% and Houston’s Cub Energy 30%.
