Scana lands North Sea work

North Sea gig: Scana has been awarded a contract on the Western Isles project which lies off the Shetland Islands in the UK

Stavanger-based Scana Industrier has been awarded a Nkr57 million ($10 million) contract to deliver mooring winches to Dana Petroleum.

Under the award Scana will provide mooring winches for Dana's new floating production, storage and offloading vessel which will be used at its Western Isles development project, off the UK.

Scana said work on the project would start immediately and would involve its subsidiaries Scana Steel Stavanger and Scana Offshore Vestby.

The Western Isles development covers the Harris and Barra oilfields which lie in the northern North Sea, about 160 kilometres east of the Shetland Islands and 12 kilometres west of the Tern field.
