ABB rehired for $26m Ramform systems

Ramform repeat: ABB to provide systems for two further vessels

Swiss power and automation specialist ABB has won a $26 million repeat order from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to supply propulsion and electrical systems for two more seismic vessels.

The Zurich-headquartered group was hired in 2011 to provide similar services for two other Ramform Titan class seismic vessels that are due to be delivered in the first and fourth quarters of this year.

The latest vessel pair were ordered under option by Norway’s Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) last October.

The 104-metre long, 24-streamer vessels are designed to bolster PGS’s offering in the expanding deep-water 3D seismic segment, according to the company.

They are due to be delivered to PGS in the first and second half of 2015.
