Yulleroo-4 holds promise in north Oz

Australia-listed Buru Energy and Japan’s Mitsubishi have hit gas shows over an interval of more than a kilometre in the first well in their 2013 drilling programme in north Western Australia.

Buru said on Thursday that the Yulleroo-4 well in exploration permit EP 436 had encountered gas shows over a total interval of some 1686 metres, from a drill depth of 2160 metres in the Lower Anderson formation to its total depth of 3846 metres in the Lower Laurel formation.

Although data from the well is still being evaluated, Buru said several sands had interpreted reservoir properties that provided encouragement for the development of conventional reservoirs as identified in the Yulleroo-3 well, drilled last year.
