Wood Group Kenny wins Sapinhoa North contract

Wood Group Kenny: the subsea specialist has been awarded a contract to assist Saipem with a riser system for the Sapinhoa North field off Brazil

Subsea specialist Wood Group Kenny has been awarded a riser design contract by Italy’s Saipem, which is supplying a riser system for the Petrobras-owned Sapinhoa North pre-salt field off Brazil.

Brazilian state-owned Petrobras approved Saipem’s bid to supply the system, which is based on steel lazy wave technology, in September last year and subsequently awarded the Italian contractor the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and pre-commissioning contract for the system.

The Sapinhoa North field requires 27 risers, of which at least 12 will be rigid, in addition to a free-standing gas export system and pipeline end terminations.

Wood Group Kenny had provided tender support work and conceptual riser engineering to Saipem in Paris at the original bidding stage last year.
