MOL bags stakes in Pakistan, Oman fields

Hungarian explorer MOL said it has signed a pair of deals with Mari Petroleum for stakes in fields in Pakistan and Oman.

Under the deals, MOL will acquire a 30% interest in the Ghauri block of Pakistan and a 25% interest in Oman's Block 43B, which MOL already operates. The increased stake in Block 43B will raise MOL's interest to 100%.

The company has already spudded a wildcat on Block 43B and test results are expected in the third quarter of this year.

Mari will retain operatorship of the Ghauri block with a 35% stake. Pakistan Petroleum Ltd owns the other 35%.
