Eni hits pay with Vandumbu sidetrack

Supporting resources: Eni celebrates expanded find off Angola

Italy’s Eni has said a sidetrack to its Vandumbu 1 deep-water oil discovery off Angola has yielded 114 metres of net oil pay.

The original well was drilled on Block 15/06 in the first half of last year, to a depth of 4107 metres in water depths of 976 metres.

Additional drilling has now seen Vandumbu 1 ST drilled in a different direction to a depth of 3480 metres to uncover the Lower Miocene sand, 34-degrees API oil pay.

The Milan-based explorer said the find around 150 kilometres off the coast was the ninth discovery at the prolific block, which is home to its West Hub project.
