Illinois: low relief farmland on Strata-X Energy’s Vail leases

Denver-based Strata-X Energy is planning to drill its first appraisal well during the next quarter at its wholly-owned Vail oil project in Illinois, US.

The company, which is dually-listed on the Toronto and Australian stock exchanges, said on Monday it had submitted an application to the regulatory agencies in Illinois to drill a horizontal well with a true measured depth of 9300 feet and a horizontal leg length of 4300 feet.

The Vail project covers 46,300 net acres in the Illinois basin. Strata-X completed an extensive in-house analysis of the onshore basin last year, which led to the identification of an unconventional continuous oilfield within a dolomitic reservoir, now referred to as the Vail oilfield. The…
